Summit Overview

The theme of this year’s International and Social Justice Education Summit is “Displacements, Migrations and Diasporas”. Dr. Howard French, professor of journalism at Columbia University and author of the book, Born in Blackness: Africa, Africans, and the Making of the Modern World, 1471 to the Second World War, will serve as the keynote speaker for the summit and his talk will focus on recovering Africa’s centrality in understanding the modern world. Breakout session presentations will cover a variety of topics within the theme and/or more broadly address individual/class projects, collaborations, or pedagogical approaches to learning that involve international or social justice themes. This is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and administrators to come together to discuss ideas, approaches, and pedagogies that advance international, intercultural, and social justice education in the classroom and at our institutions.
